A New CD & not a single jingle or Kris Kringle to be heard!

As many of you know, I'm in the midst of raising money to record a new CD, but not just ANY CD, my FIRST non-seasonal album in almost a decade! (That means there will be NO JINGLE BELLS on any of the tracks!) While I enjoy being known for my unique arrangements of holiday favorites, there is a huge world of music that I want to explore and incorporate into my own compositions and recordings. To that end, I have been composing music for the last few months with a mind to head into the studio soon to record a new CD.

I know – you want to know what the style or genre is. Having composed music in a myriad of styles – from classical to jazz, world beat to R & B and for a wide variety of instrumentation, orchestral to solo piano – it’s difficult to find the right name for my musical style. “Jazzical.” “Kickassical” “Heavy Mellow?” Whatever it’s called, I think you’re really going to like it. It's still "me" - but with a fresh new take and sound.

So, here’s where you come in. Traditionally the “making a CD formula” goes like this. Starving musician has enough tunes for an album. He gathers his music in a rucksack and knocks on the massive doors of a huge music mega-company and asks, “Please, sir – can I have some more?” The music mogul twists the ends of his mustache, writes a check with his gold-encrusted Mont Blanc pen, and in return asks the artist to hand over his soul. (At least, this is what I’ve been told by my musician friends who have escaped.) So, I’m opting out of that rat race, and instead have begun looking for fellow music-lovers to join me in creating something very special. As a member of the Kurt Bestor Project, you will have a private opportunity to see deeper inside the creative and recording process, and in the end have a valuable piece of this exciting new project.
